Volume 2, Number 33 August 17, 2000
From the July 13th issue where Jim, our wonderful webmaster, voiced his opinions about his experiences
and his perception of Cafth, he answers a question he was sent from Emily about his comments:
#1: Emily asks Jim:
Can be for Cafth too I guess. Scientists like Carl Sagan say that prayer is just wishful thinking.
So what would you say to that and what do you say about SETI?
Thanks, Emily
Jim: I think Carl Sagan's obviously wrong on this one. Prayer gives you a direct connection to
God, to the source of the truth.
Even in relation to Cafth, since most of the topics that he hits on are beyond our current scientific
realm here on Earth, without prayer how on Earth would you ever know if he's telling you the truth or not? I mean, scientifically
as I learned in school, you could compare it to other channeled sources - there's many around the internet, but it doesn't
take a genius to know that many of them are false. So you might well come to a false conclusion based on witnesses - many
of them who might provide information through channeling - that are trained to lie.
When I've asked Cafth questions, I've always tested the answer with prayer. And it's always ended
up matching what he's said. Most of the time he just gives leads anyway, and prayer helps me arrive at the real answer. He's
wise enough to know that if he gives me the full answer I wouldn't believe it anyway. But if I end up getting it from the
"Man Upstairs" I know it's truth.
I almost can't avoid throwing in a computer analogy (sorry, it's in my geek nature I guess) and
it seems that without prayer life is like sitting at a computer that's not connected to the internet. In this respect, I think
that maybe Carl Sagan has a problem because his modem isn't functioning properly. Let him know that there's a DIP switch setting
on the back of the modem labeled "Faith" that needs to be in the "On" position. He he. But really, most people don't even
try it and somehow conclude that modems are just "wishful thinking" on the part of all the people that are hooked up to the
internet. Think about how ridiculous that sounds! But that's really what it comes down to. Prayer is working for so many people
that it has to be more than just wishful thinking.
As far as SETI goes, it seems silly to me. Almost like looking all over the house for your glasses
when you're wearing them on your head. There's so much evidence of extraterrestrial life all over Earth every day that never
gets even a minute portion of the funding for study that SETI does. So I think that SETI is a red herring experiment, and
a very purposeful one at that, to draw our attention away from what's going on right in front of our noses.
#2: Scott comments:
Hi Guys,
Did you receive the email with the documents I sent? If so, I think Volume 1 should be placed
on your site for download soon because it relates directly to the debate from the last issue. Let's stop looking for answers
from outside ourselves! The bible, Jesus, aliens, 90210, a nice hot dog - are all items to be experienced, not to be the B
all and end all of our existence. They may just be bad for you. Life is wonderful - just let it all come to you in waves of
wonder.
(PS. Waves of Wonder is actually quite a cool title. If anyone wants to use it you can, but you
have to mention my name somewhere so I can be famous.)
Keep smiling, Scott
Jim: Yes, Scott, I did get them, and thanks for the reminder! What I'm going to do is post both
the document files here for download. I changed the filenames to shorten them up but otherwise both these files are posted
just as I received them from Scott:
These links no longer work...as far as I know now...
